Job Purpose/Objectives

  • To embed HSE culture in Savannah Energy work sites, by ensuring adherence to the Company's QHSE standards and procedures.
  • Support the creation of behavioural change strategies that will ensure a safe environment for all Employees and Contractors.

 

Job & Main Specification (Education/Knowledge, Skills, Attributes, Experience & Other Required Details)

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas industry, with at least 3 years’ experience in site QHSE supervision.
  • Ability to organise, multi-task and prioritize task.
  • Good data analytics and reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Power Point).
  • Must possess in-depth industry based HSE knowledge and an understanding of Legal Compliance.
  • Ability to supervise local contractors to ensure incident and injury free workplace is maintained.
  • Ideally, have some Environmental Knowledge / Training.
  • Knowledge of Management Systems i.e., HSE & Quality.

Education 

  • University degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Management or any related discipline.
  • Nigerian Institute of Safety Professional HSE Level 3 or equivalent qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • Tech IOSH (working towards Graduate/Chartered status) and or relevant HSE trainings.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote awareness and adherence to the Company's QHSE policies and procedure amongst Employees and Contractors.
  • Act as a member of site Emergency Response (ER) Team in accordance with the requirements identified in the ER NSOP-3006.
  • Act as liaison with QHSE Contractors, ensuring activities comply with Company HSE policies and plans, conformed to the terms and conditions of the Contract and meet local statutory HSE regulations.
  • Provide HSE advisory inputs for contractor selection during bidding stage, conduct routine technical reviews and ensure update of the required QHSE documentation.
  • Maintain action tracking field registers and databases.
  • Review and implement QHSE initiatives, plans and schedules.
  • Coordinate hazard identification process as needed.
  • Organize and conduct ER drills in accordance with the requirements of the ER SOP.
  • Supervise and monitor day to day safety, health and environmental activities in all field locations.
  • Monitor collection and reporting of environmental data from well sites.
  • Provide advice and otherwise ensure the scheduled maintenance of Fire and Gas detection equipment – philosophy and layouts.
  • Undertake and /or assist with site QHSE inspections.
  • Participate in Risk Assessments, Incident Investigations, Inspections and Audits as required.
  • Present and /or facilitate HSE trainings as required.
  • Ensure submission of daily, weekly and monthly QHSE reports.
  • Facilitate and report on-site Safety Meetings.
  • Provide necessary data required to be entered into Safety database (near misses/incident types) in the system.
  • Coordinate the activities across all work locations to ensure effective HSE management system.
  • Assist the HSE Manager to develop and implement corporate and field HSE Management System.
